Scrubbing can be quite a burden on your system. If playback problems occur, open the Preferences dialog (Transport—Scrub page), and deactivate Use High Quality Scrub Mode. This lowers the resampling quality but makes scrubbing less demanding on the processor, especially with large projects.
In the Preferences dialog (Transport—Scrub page), you can also adjust the Scrub volume.
