You can delete the contents of selection ranges.
Prerequisite
You have created a selection range.
Procedure
Do one of the following:

To delete the contents of a selection range and replace it with empty space, select , or press Backspace.

To delete the contents of a selection range and move events that are situated at later timeline positions to the left, to close the gap, select .
Result
The content of the selection range is deleted.
