You can cut the contents of selection ranges.
Prerequisite
You have created a selection range.
Procedure
Do one of the following:

To cut the contents of a selection range and replace it with empty space, select , or press Ctrl/Cmd-X.

To cut the contents of a selection range and move events that are situated at later timeline positions to the left, to close the gap, select .
Result
The cut data is saved to the clipboard.
