VocalChain is a plug-in dedicated to modern vocal processing, containing various modules for different aspects, such as cleaning, adding more character, and typical vocal effects.
Effect chain list
The order of the modules in the list determines the signal chain.
You can rearrange the modules by dragging them within the Clean or Character section of the signal chain list, or by dragging modules within the parameter section in category view.
Selecting a module from the list opens its detail page, which displays all available parameters.
You can use the mouse wheel to scroll the effect chain list.
Frequency display
Displays the frequency spectrum. For the selected module, it allows you to edit frequency-related parameters.
Parameter section
Allows you to adjust the parameters of the effect modules. The availability of parameters depends on the options selected in the signal chain list:
-
If Overview is selected, only the most important parameter for each module is available.
-
If the Clean, Character, or Send category is selected, all modules of the corresponding category are displayed in a compact view, with reduced parameters.
-
If a single module is selected, the detail view makes all parameters of the corresponding module available.
NoteYou can also switch between the detail view and the Overview or category view by double-clicking the module name in the parameter section.
Meter section
This section allows you to control the overall input and output level and shows the overall gain reduction. On the input meter, the range for the optimal input level is indicated.
Side-Chain section
For all effect modules that allow for side-chaining, the Side-Chain section is available in the detail view. It allows you to make side-chain settings for the corresponding effect.
- Activate Side-Chaining
-
Activates/Deactivates side-chaining for the effect.
- Input
-
Sets the side-chain input. If Internal is selected, the input signal of the plug-in is used as the side-chain source. If a particular Side-Chain (1 to 8) is selected, the signal of the tracks that are routed to the corresponding plug-in side-chain input is used.
- Side-Chain Filter Listen
-
Allows you to solo the side-chain filter. This way, you can quickly check the part of the signal that is filtered out using the current settings.
- Side-Chain Filter Frequency
-
Sets the frequency of the side-chain filter. You can set the frequency either in Hz or as a note value. If you enter a note value, the frequency is automatically changed to Hz. For example, a note value of A3 sets the frequency to 440 Hz. When you enter a note value, you can also enter a cent offset; for example, A5 -23 or C4 +49.
NoteTo ensure that the cent offsets are taken into account, enter a space between the note and the cent offset.
- Side-Chain Filter Q-Factor
-
Sets the resonance or width of the side-chain filter.
This plug-in supports external side-chaining. For a description of how to set up side-chain routing, see the Operation Manual.
