There are different paragraph styles for different types of tempo marks and tempo mark components. You can change different aspects of these fonts in the Paragraph Styles dialog, such as making tempo marks appear larger in full score layouts without affecting their size in part layouts.

Musical phrase with different types of tempo marks labelled

The following paragraph styles are used for tempo marks:

  1. Tempo (Gradual): Used for gradual tempo changes, such as "rallentando".

  2. Tempo (Immediate): Used for absolute tempo changes, such as “Adagio”.

  3. Tempo (Metronome Mark): Used for metronome marks, such as "=76".

Note

Note value glyphs and rhythm dots in metronome marks additionally use the Metronome Mark Music Text character style.
