Playing techniques popover with elements labelled

The playing techniques popover comprises the following:

  1. Popover handle

Allows you to move the popover vertically by clicking and dragging.

  2. Popover icon

Identifies the playing techniques popover. Matches the corresponding button in the Notations toolbox on the right of the window.

  3. Popover entry field

Allows you to enter playing techniques.

    Tip
    • To input a parenthesized playing technique, enclose its entry in round brackets, such as (arco).

    • To input a hidden playing technique, enclose its entry in square brackets, such as [pizz].

    • To give a playing technique duration, add -> at the end of your entry, such as vibrato->. During note input, the duration of the playing technique extends as you continue inputting notes or advance the caret. Enter ? to end its duration without inputting another playing technique.

    • Outside of note input, entering two playing techniques separated by -> automatically groups them.

  4. Playing techniques menu

When you enter text into the playing techniques popover, a menu appears that shows matching valid playing techniques. You can then select one of these playing techniques for input.
