You can show dedications in multiple layouts by adding them to page templates. Dedications are usually shown above titles in scores, use a smaller font size than titles, and are shown in italics.

Prerequisite

  • The right zone is shown.

  • You have entered a dedication in one of the Dedication fields in the Project Info dialog. You can enter different dedications for the whole project and individual flows.

  • If you want to use a new paragraph style for dedications, you have created a new paragraph style.

Procedure

  1. In Engrave mode, open a layout in the music area that uses the page template set containing the page template to which you want to add a dedication.
    Note

You can also select the page template set from the Current set menu in the Page Templates section of the Pages panel when any layout is open in the music area; however, this changes the page template set applied to the layout.

  2. In the Page Templates section of the Pages panel, double-click the page template to which you want to add a dedication to open the page template editor.
  3. Double-click the title text frame to open the text editor.
    Tip

When Frames Frames button is selected in the Engrave toolbox, you can also select text frames and press Return.

  4. Position the cursor at the start of the title token.
  5. Press Return to input a new line above the title token.
  6. Enter one of the following tokens in the new line above the title token:
    • {@flowDedication@} shows the dedication for the flow.

    • {@projectDedication@} shows the dedication for the whole project.

  7. Optional: Change the appearance of the dedication text using the text editor options.
  8. Press Esc or Ctrl/Cmd-Return to close the text editor.

Result

A dedication is shown above the title of all pages that use the selected page template, provided you have entered a dedication into the appropriate field in the Project Info dialog.
