You can change the padding at the top/bottom of individual music frames, independently of your setting for music frame margins for the layout.

Prerequisite

  • The lower zone is shown.

  • Properties is selected in the lower zone toolbar.

  • Frames Frames button is selected in the Engrave toolbox.

  • If you want to change the padding in music frames on a page template, you have opened the page template in the page template editor.

Procedure

  1. In Engrave mode, select the music frames whose padding you want to change.
  2. In the Properties panel, activate the following properties, individually or together, in the Music group:
    • Top padding

    • Bottom padding

  3. Change the values in the value fields.

Result

The padding at the top/bottom of the selected music frames is changed.

  • Top padding sets the gap between the top edge of the selected music frames and the top staff line of the highest staff in each frame.

  • Bottom padding sets the gap between the bottom edge of the selected music frames and the bottom staff line of the lowest staff in each frame.

For example, when the bottom padding is set to 0, the bottom staff line of the lowest staff in the frame aligns with the bottom edge of the music frame.

Note
  • Deactivating the properties returns the selected music frames to your settings for music frame margins for the layout.

  • If you changed the padding in frames on pages in a layout, this only affects that layout and creates a page template override, which is a type of page format change. If you changed the padding in frames on a page template, this affects all pages in all layouts that use that page template.

  • Notes and notations above the highest staff and below the lowest staff extend into music frame margins.
