You can insert pages into each layout in your project; for example, if you want to add an empty page to facilitate page turns. Inserted pages can be empty or can use a page template as a starting point.

Prerequisite

  • The right zone is shown.

  • You have created or imported any page templates you want to use as a starting point for inserted pages.

Procedure

  1. In Engrave mode, in the Pages panel, click Insert Pages in the Pages section action bar to open the Insert Pages dialog.
  2. Enter the number of pages you want to insert into the Number of pages to insert field.
  3. Select where you want to insert pages from the Page position menu.

For example, to insert pages after page 8, select After page and enter 8. For pages with changed page numbers, their displayed page number is also shown.

  4. Optional: If you want to use a page template as a starting point for the inserted pages, select it from the Use page template menu.
  5. Click OK to save your changes and close the dialog.

Result

The number of pages specified are added at the selected position. They are considered page template overrides and are shown in the Pages panel with a colored triangle in their top left corner. If you did not select a page template to use as a starting point for the inserted pages, they are empty.

Any existing page format changes on subsequent pages in the layout move accordingly. For example, if you had a flow heading change on page 2 and inserted a single page at the start of the layout, the flow heading change is now on page 3.

Note

Pages inserted using a page template are still considered page template overrides. If you want such pages to get updated if you edit the page template, we recommend assigning page template changes to the pages and removing page overrides.

After Completing This Task

If you want to add information to empty pages, you can edit them or assign a page template to them; for example, if you have created a title page template that you want to use in all the parts in your project.
