Changing the gaps between lyrics/hyphens

You can change the gaps between hyphens, and between lyrics and hyphens, independently of each other and your project-wide settings. For example, to show more or fewer hyphens in specific bars.

Prerequisite

  • The lower zone is shown.

  • Properties is selected in the lower zone toolbar.

  • Graphic Editing Graphic Editing button is selected in the Engrave toolbox.

Procedure

  1. In Engrave mode, select the lyrics whose lyric/hyphen gaps you want to change.
    Tip

    You only need to select one lyric before/after each hyphen, as hyphens are always centered between lyrics.

  2. In the Properties panel, activate the following properties, individually or together, in the Lyrics group:

    • Gap between lyrics and hyphens

    • Gap between hyphens

  3. Change the values in the value fields.

Result

The gaps between hyphens and/or between lyrics and hyphens for the selected lyrics are changed.

Note

  • These steps do not affect note spacing. To update note spacing according to the gaps between lyrics/hyphens, change the value for Minimum space to allow for hyphen in Engraving Options > Lyrics > Hyphens.

  • You can change the default gaps between all lyrics/hyphens project-wide in Engraving Options > Lyrics > Hyphens.
