You can insert pages into each layout in your project; for example, to facilitate page turns. Inserted pages can be empty or can use a page template as a starting point.

Prerequisite

  • The right zone is shown.

  • You have created or imported any page templates that you want to use as a starting point for inserted pages.

Procedure

  1. In Engrave mode, open the layout into which you want to insert pages.
  2. In the Pages section of the Pages panel, select the page before/from which you want to insert pages.
  3. In the action bar, click Insert Pages to open the Insert Pages dialog.
  4. Enter the number of pages that you want to insert into the Number of pages to insert field.
  5. Select where you want to insert pages from the Page position menu.

For example, to insert pages after page 8, select After page and enter 8. For pages with changed page numbers, their displayed page number is also shown.

  6. Optional: If you want to use a page template as a starting point for the inserted pages, select it from the Use page template menu.
  7. Click OK to save your changes and close the dialog.

Result

The number of pages specified is added at the selected position. Inserted pages are considered page template overrides and are shown in the Pages panel with a colored triangle in their top left corner. If you did not select a page template to use as a starting point for the inserted pages, they are empty.

Any existing page format changes on subsequent pages in the layout move accordingly. For example, if you had a flow heading change on page 2 and inserted a single page at the start of the layout, the flow heading change is now on page 3.

Tip

If you want inserted pages to get updated when you edit the corresponding page templates, we recommend assigning page template changes to the pages and removing page template overrides.

After Completing This Task

If you want to add information to empty pages, you can edit them or assign a page template to them; for example, if you have created a title page template that you want to use in all the parts in your project.
