You can input MIDI trigger regions using the MIDI trigger regions popover.

Prerequisite

You have chosen the appropriate middle C numbering convention setting.

Procedure

  1. In Write mode, do one of the following:
    • Start note input.

    • On each staff where you want to input a MIDI trigger region, select items that span the required duration.

  2. Open the MIDI trigger regions popover in any of the following ways:
    • Press Shift-0.

    • In the Notations toolbox, click Popovers Popovers button, then MIDI Trigger Region MIDI Trigger Region button.

  3. Enter the notes you want to trigger into the popover.

For example, enter C4,E4,G4, 60,64,67, or play a C major chord on a MIDI keyboard. To specify the velocity, include the required number in parentheses, such as (112), at the end of your entry.

    Tip

You can audition notes/chords while the popover is open.

  4. Press Return to close the popover.

Result

During note input, MIDI trigger regions are input spanning the duration of the selected note or item, which is usually the last input note.

When adding MIDI trigger regions to existing music, they span the selected duration on each selected staff. If you selected a duration within an existing MIDI trigger region, the new MIDI trigger region replaces the existing region only for the selected duration.
