Coordination lines are vertical lines between staves that indicate alignment. They are typically used in cutaway scores, where staves with simultaneous music can be separated by large gaps. Coordination lines are also known as “synchronization”, “time alignment”, or “temporal alignment” lines.

Cutaway score with coordination lines

In Dorico Pro, you can input coordination lines between any two staves. You can also change the line style and alignment of coordination lines.

Coordination lines are layout- and frame chain-specific, meaning that each layout and frame chain can have coordination lines at different rhythmic positions.

Tip

In Engrave mode, you can move whole coordination lines graphically to the right/left, and their start/end handles upwards/downwards. However, coordination lines are always vertical; you cannot change their angles.
