eLicenser: Steinberg Download Assistant guide

A few things to consider before you start to redeem your Download Access Code:

• If you haven't yet, please download and install the Steinberg Download Assistant.
• The Steinberg Download Assistant requires to be connected to a MySteinberg account. On startup, you will be asked to log-in or to register a new account. 
• If you want to store your license on a USB-eLicenser, make sure it is connected to your computer.
  
• Of course, you should have your Download Access Code at hand.

You are now ready to redeem your Download Access Code and activate the license.

• Start the Steinberg Download Assistant on your computer.
• On startup, the Steinberg Download Assistant performs an auto-update to make sure you have the latest version installed.
• Log in to your MySteinberg account. If you don't have one yet, you will be asked to register. 
• Optional: Go to "Settings" (gear symbol at the top) and verify the set storage location. Your operating system's download folder is the default setting. 
• In the top-left corner, click on the button labeled "Enter your Download Access Code".
• A dialog box pops up, prompting you to enter your Download Access Code.
• Enter the Download Access Code and click on [OK].
  In case your Download Access Code came with bundled hardware, you will also be asked to enter the matching serial number of the device.
• If the Download Access Code is valid, the corresponding product license will be shown in the dialog box along with an Activation Code.
• Click on the [Activate] button to continue.
• The eLicenser Control Center opens in the background.
• A dialog box of the eLicenser Control Center pops up with the Activation Code already filled in.
• Click [Activate License] to continue.
• The license will now be downloaded. This can take a few moments.
• Click on [Finish Activation] when the progress bar shows that the process has been completed.
• The eLicenser Control Center closes. The Steinberg Download Assistant is still showing the dialog box which now confirms that the "Activation finished successfully". Your license has been activated.
• Click [Close] to proceed.

Now that your license has been activated, you can continue downloading the corresponding software. But before you go on, please remember to register your license(s) with your MySteinberg account. Waiting for downloads to complete is a good opportunity for that.  

• Downloads for redeemed Download Access Codes are listed under "My product downloads" - the top category on the left.
• Select the software under "My product downloads" to get a list of download options on the right.
• Click the [Download] button next to the item you want to download. 
• The download starts. A blue progress bar will inform you on the status of the download.
• Once the download has been completed, the progress bar turns green.
• Click [Open] resp. [Install].
• [Install] Clicking [Install] starts a "silent" installation of the software. The animated blue progress bar is showing that the software is being installed in the background. As soon as the installation has been completed, the progress bar turns green and will be marked by a white checkmark symbol. You can now run the software. 
• [Open] If you click open, the folder containing the downloaded file(s) will be opened in your operating system's file browser.
  Double-click the requested file to open it.
  Depending on the file, this will start the software installation, register a vstsound file or open a PDF with further information.

• Open Steinberg Download Assistant.
• The Steinberg Download Assistant requires to be connected to a MySteinberg account.
  On startup, you will be asked to log-in or to register a new account. 
• Optional: Go to "Settings" (gear symbol at the top) and verify the set storage location. Your operating system's download folder is the default setting. 
• Browse through the categories on the left and select the software you want to install or update. 
• The corresponding download options appear on the right. 
• Click the [Download] button next to the item you want to download. 
• Once the download has been completed, the download progress bar turns green.
• Click [Open].
• The folder containing the downloaded file(s) will be opened in your operating system's file browser.
• Double-click the requested file to open it.
  Depending on the file, this will start the software installation, register a vstsound file or open a PDF with further information.
