Once the tonal and noise components are split, you can use them separately. This allows you to try out different noise components with a tonal sample, edit the components of a sample separately before combining them again, etc. You can also create entirely new sounds from your samples in this way.
Prerequisite
You have used the Decompose function on several samples, so that you have a variety of different noise and tonal samples to choose from.
Procedure
Open the Browser.
Navigate to the folder that contains the decomposed samples and filter the view to show only the decomposed samples using the Filter by Sound Component pop-up menu.
You can filter the list to show the tonal component samples, the noise component samples, or all the component samples, that is, noise and tonal, that were created with the Decompose function.
Do one of the following:
Drag the samples onto the waveform display in the Sample Oscillator section of the Zone Editor.
You can also exchange samples in the Sample Oscillator section by clicking Load/Replace Sample in the section header, navigating to the sample, and clicking Open.
Drag the samples onto different sample zones in the Program Tree.
Play back the zones.
Experiment with different combinations.
After Completing This Task
Once you have identified the combination that you want to use, you can edit the samples further in the Sample Editor, for example.
