On the Multi tab, you can choose between two multi-oscillator modes: Unison and Stack. Both modes create up to eight playback streams from the source sample that can be detuned and spread across the stereo panorama.
To be able to choose a multi-oscillator mode, activate the Multi On/Off button.
Depending on its settings, the spectral oscillator may require more CPU power than other oscillator types. Using it in Multi Oscillator mode, and especially in Unison mode, further increases the power consumption.
Unison
In Unison mode, playback streams can play back from different positions of the sample.
- Number of Unison Voices

Determines the number of oscillators that play back simultaneously. You can also set fractions of numbers. For example, with a setting of 2.5, two oscillators play back at full level and a third oscillator at half level.
- Detune

Detunes the oscillators.
- Pan Spread

Narrows or widens the stereo panorama. With a setting of 0%, you create a mono signal, and at 100%, you create a stereo signal.
- Position Spread

Distributes the oscillators so that each oscillator starts playing from a different position in the wavetable.
You can adjust the pitch distribution of the oscillators via the Distribution control in the Voice Control section.
Stack
This mode creates up to eight copies of the spectrum. In Stack mode, all copies are derived from the same audio stream with the same playback position, which requires less CPU than Unison mode. In addition, Stack mode also supports larger intervals, which is ideal for building chords that can be played with one note.
- Level

The eight faders allow you to adjust the level for each copy of the spectrum. These levels can be used as modulation destinations, for example, by LFOs or envelopes.
- Pan

With the Stack Pan On/Off button activated, the eight pan controls below the Level faders allow you to adjust the position in the stereo panorama for each copy of the spectrum.
NoteOnly activate Stack Pan On/Off when required, because it increases the CPU load.
- Pitch

Allows you to specify the Pitch interval between the copies in semitones and cents.
- Learn Stack

With Learn Stack activated, you can specify the pitch intervals by playing notes on your MIDI keyboard. The intervals are calculated based on the distance between the played key and the Center Key.
Note-
You can only specify intervals for the focused zone.

When using Learn Stack, the keys that you play must be within the key range of the spectral zone, defined by the Low Key and High Key parameters for the zone in the Mapping Editor.

To achieve the desired intervals, match the Center Key to the key of your current song or the root note of the chord that you want HALion to learn.

- Pure Intonation

By default, the intervals use equal temperament and the resulting chord sounds as if played on a keyboard. In equal temperament, all intervals except for the octave are either slightly too narrow or too wide, which results in a “beating” sound.
By activating Pure Intonation, the intervals are corrected to sound purely harmonic. This is useful for source spectrums that are strictly harmonic, such as sawtooth or square waveforms.
