This effect combines four distortion types, which allows you to create anything from a mild “singing” overdrive to extreme types of distortion.
The Input Gain, Bass, and Peak parameters are applied before any of the distortion types.
- Input Gain
-
Boosts or cuts the entire signal.
- Bass Filter
-
Boosts or cuts low frequencies with a shelving characteristic.
-
Bass Cut specifies the cutoff frequency, that is, the frequency where the shelf begins.
-
Bass Gain sets the amount of cut or boost.
-
- Peak Filter
-
Boosts or cuts the frequencies around the Peak Frequency. You can adjust the following parameters:
After the filters, four stages of distortion can be applied.
- Drive
-
Boosts the signal until it saturates. The waveform peaks are gently clipped, which adds odd harmonics, similar to a tube overdrive.
- Foldback
-
Like Drive, this parameter also boosts the signal. However, instead of clipping, the waveform peaks are “folded back”, which introduces hard edges to the waveform and adds overtones to the signal. The waveform is folded in the signal range between -1 and 1.
-
For a brighter sound, activate Half Foldback.
In this mode, the positive half of the waveform is folded in the signal range between 0 and 1 and the negative half of the waveform is folded in the range between -1 and 0.
-
- Oversampling
-
Increases the accuracy of the distortion stages and reduces aliasing artifacts.
- Rectify
-
Allows you to introduce anything from a little clipping of the negative part of a waveform to half-wave and full-wave rectification, which adds odd and even harmonics to the signal.
Half-wave rectification sets the second, negative half of a waveform to zero. Full-wave rectification flips the second half of a waveform, so that it becomes positive.
- Rectify Softness
-
Allows you to round off the clipping, which results in a softer and warmer tone.
- Diode
-
Bends the waveform with a characteristic known from diode circuit elements used in many guitar distortion effect pedals. This adds even and odd harmonics to the signal.
The final stage of the effect contains the post-filter and output parameters.
- HP Cutoff
-
High-pass filter with 6 dB/oct. Frequencies below the cutoff are attenuated.
- LP Cutoff
-
Low-pass filter with 6 dB/oct. Frequencies above the cutoff are attenuated.
- Out Gain
-
Adjusts the output level of the effect.
- Mix
-
Sets the ratio between the dry and the wet signal.
