Programs, layers, and multi-programs can be described by using a predefined set of attributes.

Attributes can be edited in the following places in HALion:

  • In the Save Program As and Save Multi-Program As dialogs.

  • In the MediaBay results list.

  • In the Export Program and Export All Programs dialogs.

  • In the Tagging editor.

Procedure
  1. To specify or change an attribute value, click on an existing attribute value, or click Configure Attribute Menus to add an attribute menu from which you can select an attribute.
    • For most attributes, such as Author, a pop-up menu listing the available options opens when you click in the Value column.

To create a new Author attribute, enter the text and click the Add New Value button.

    • Some values, such as Articulations, Properties, and Moods, open a dialog where you can add a number of different attribute values by selecting them from a list.

You can use the text field at the top to narrow down the list. Enter the name or part of the name of the attribute you are looking for to filter the list to show all attribute values that contain the entered text. The list is updated as you type.

To create a new attribute, enter the text for it in the text field and click Add New Value.

If you specify multiple attributes, you can change their order using drag and drop.

    • For the combined attributes Category and Subcategory as well as Style and Substyle, a pop-up panel opens.

If you switch to a Subcategory from another Category, the Category value is automatically updated.

You can create new Substyle or Subcategory values by entering them in the text field and clicking Add New Label.

    • The dialog for the Signature attribute lists the most common time signatures. To use a different signature, enter it in the text field and click Add New Label.

    • For the Rating attribute, you can click in the Value column and drag left or right to modify the setting.

    • For the Tempo attribute, you can select an available tempo value from the list.

  2. Select a value, activate an attribute, or enter text.

Attribute values are written into the corresponding files.

    Note

If you change the attributes for write-protected factory content files, these changes are only saved in the MediaBay database, not in the file.
