macOS: Music fonts missing from Dorico 5 after installing Cubase 14

Problem

After installing Cubase 14, when you run Dorico 5, only the Bravura and Petaluma music fonts appear in the software.

Any existing projects that use another of the music fonts included with Dorico 5 (including Finale Ash, Finale Broadway, Finale Jazz, Finale Maestro, Golden Age, Leipzig, Leland, and Sebastian) report that these fonts are missing when you open them.

Background

This problem is caused by an incompatibility between the font installer included with Cubase 14 and the one included with versions of Dorico 5 up to and including Dorico 5.1.60.

Solution

  • Quit Dorico and Cubase.
  • Download and run this tool, which reinstall the third-party music fonts and their associated metadata files:

⬇ Dorico 5 Fonts Installer for macOS | 2.1 MB

When you next restart Dorico, the full selection of music fonts will be available as expected.
