With the Browser, you can navigate to specific directories on your system and load files from there.

Path Section

  • Activate Show Scan column to display a column with checkboxes that allow you to decide which folders to scan for files.

    Note

You can also activate subfolders for the scan.

The checkboxes give a visual indication of whether folders are scanned, not scanned, or whether subfolders within these folders are scanned.

The topmost folder is scanned in its entirety, the center folder contains subfolders that are scanned, and the lowermost folder is not scanned at all.
    Tip

Once you have activated all folders that you want to be scanned, you can hide the column again. Your settings remain active, even when the column is not shown.

  • Note

The MediaBay database is shared across all Steinberg products. Changing the scan folders for one product affects the database for all products that use it.

  • To step through the recent locations, click the Previous Browse Location/Next Browse Location buttons.

  • To navigate to the folder one level up in the location tree, click the Browse Containing Folder button.

  • The path to the current position in the hierarchy is shown on the right. To navigate to one of these folders, click its name.

  • To open the history, click the Navigation History button on the right.

Location Tree

The location tree on the left side of the Browser allows you to navigate through your files, in any folder on your system. You can even access files within VST Sound containers and ISO files.

You can save folders or directories in your system as favorite locations for quick access. The text field above the tree shows the name of the selected folder. If the name is preceded by an asterisk, the folder has not been saved as a location yet.

Results List

The results list shows the files found in the selected folder. It displays all files that Padshop is compatible with.

The Set up Result Columns button allows you to specify which file attributes to display in the results list and set up the column order so that these attributes are visible without scrolling. This allows you to quickly find files with particular attributes.
