Steinberg Download Assistant cannot connect to the internet

Problem

When starting the Steinberg Download Assistant, the following error message appears:

A connection to the download server could not be established. Check your internet connection and try again.

Background

One possible reason may be an outdated installation. Due to an unfortunately unavoidable security-related certificate update, Steinberg Download Assistant versions older than 1.39.3 can no longer connect to our servers.

Solution

To solve this issue, please install the current Steinberg Download Assistant:

Download Steinberg Download Assistant for Windows
