Windows 7: '.NET Framework Initialization Error' during Cubase installation

Problem

The installation of Cubase fails and the following error message appears:

.NET Framework Initialization Error

Background

The needed .NET Framework - a Windows component -  on your system seems to be missing or has been corrupted.

Solution

Unfortunately, since the problem can have several reasons, there is no specific solution that works for all.

However, in many cases, installing the .NET Framework 4.7.2 update as well as the so called Platform Update for Windows 7 will most likely solve the issue.

Please note that both updates require an up-to-date Windows 7 installation. In doubt, please run Windows Update to get the latest Windows updates including optional updates, particularly .NET Frameworks, Windows Update is offering.

After the suggested Windows updates have been completed, the Cubase installation should succeed.
